Central Maryland Youth Ballet

Columbia, Maryland

CMYB is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our Professional Division students (Ballet III, IV, V, VI) and our Open Class dancers. We will need everyone's cooperation for the following guidelines.

  • Students may not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to the start time of their ballet class. There will be 15 minutes between classes for students to exit and others to enter.
  • Only dancers will be allowed in the main stairway, the lobby or the studios. Parents will not be able to enter the building. The waiting area will be closed to all but the dancers. Please be timely in dropping off and picking up your dancer outside the building in the parking lot.
  • Masks must be worn at all times by dancers and teachers. Cotton masks with 2-3 layers are recommended. It will initially be harder to breathe during excercise, but with practice dancers will adapt. Be sure to bring more than one mask, as it can become less effective when damp with persperation.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for our dancers on the landing on the main stairway just outside the lobby door. Hand sanitizer will also be placed just outside of each studio. Hand washing is also highly recommended before and after class. All dancers should have their own hand sanitizer and wipes to clean their barre space before and after class.
  • All dancers must arrive wearing their dance attire under a cover-up of a dress or pants etc. The dressing rooms wil be closed and not available for use. The bathrooms can only be used for their express purpose. Dancers will need their own dance bag. Dancers street shoes, coats, jackets and any personal items must be placed in their dance bag and left in the lobby. Essentially students will need to arrive ready to dance, and when finished with class exit quickly.
  • All dancers should have their own water bottle. No one will be able to use the water fountain until further notice.
  • The lobby/waiting room will be clear of chairs, desks and tables.
  • Class size will be limited depending on the size of the studio.                                          Studio A (Big studio) 10 dancers (Ballet IV, V, VI, Open Ballet)                                   Studio B (Small studio)  8 dancers (Ballet III)
  • There will be no physical corrections made by the teachers. Students and teachers will maintain 6 feet social distancing during class. Spaces at the barre/center will be marked to remind all dancers to remain apart.
  • All make-up classes must be done virtually, therefore CMYB must be notified the day before the make-up class in order for us to issue an invite to attend the class.
  • Any students showing symtoms of illness, have a fever, a cold, are sneezing and/or coughing (even if due to allergies) are to stay at home.
  • All highly touched surfaces and equipment will be cleaned and disinfected daily.
